Jewelry Trend: Gemstone Engagement Rings at Ice

Diamond engagement rings will always be at the forefront when it comes to popping the question, but with such a tough economy looming over budgets everywhere, it's either save and wait until you can afford to purchase a diamond that is worthy of the finger it is worn on...or opt for some innovation. Personally speaking, I had a diamond engagement ring for my first marriage, however I'm not sold on wearing another one should I ever re-marry. Call me crazy, but I'd rather wear something different, like a colorful gemstone solitaire to draw attention to my hand. And I'm not the first to think this is a good idea, as we've seen with Kate Middleton and Princess Diana before her.

Since I have Ice.com bookmarked as one of my favorite window shopping jewelry etailers, let's take a look at some of the possibilites there.

Rose gold is making a strong comeback and this gorgeous 1 1/2 carat Morganite and Black Diamond 14K Pink Gold ring ($455) definitely comands attention without robbing you blind.

This one is my personal favorite (boyfriend please pay attention) as I have had a long love affair with blue topaz. Ice's 7 1/10 Carat Blue Topaz, Sapphire and Black Diamond on 10K White Gold ($350) makes my head spin. Not only does it have a large eye catching stone, but the deep blue sapphires really give this ring some definition.

There's also something simplistic yet elegant about this 4 1/7 Carat Blue Topaz and Diamond 14K White Gold ring ($275). Engagement rings don't have to bankrupt you before you begin your newlywed life and the square checkerboard cut of this blue topaz will brillinatly add sparkle to your finger without even trying.

If gemstones are still not your thing, Ice.com does offer diamond soliatires as well. Can't decide? Ice has a great review system in place to see what other customers are saying about their products, as well as videos of each item so that you can see how the jewelry wears, whether it's a ring or necklace.
