Doris Panos was born into the world of jewelry. Generations of family members were jewelers, and the long-term exposure instilled in her a deep love for design and luxury. After graduating from New York’s St. John’s University with a marketing degree, Panos fully immersed herself in jewelry design and technique.
When it came to jewelry design engineering, Panos was a natural, no doubt a result of her genealogy. She wanted to expand her knowledge further and worked for about three years in the gemstone market, studying diamonds, precious, and semiprecious stones. Her talent and passion did not go unnoticed, and Panos was asked to teach regular style seminars at Saks Fifth Avenue. Once she had established for herself a strong foundation in jewelry, she felt it was time to pursue her own career and launched Doris Panos Designs, LTD in 1993.
The brand dipped into bankruptcy a few years back, but has since pulled out and made a full recovery, revamping brand image and making changes to the collections. Today, Panos strives to set her designs apart from the rest by making her jewelry an attainable luxury. Though the designs are wildly intricate, the pieces remain wearable because they are created with the everyday woman in mind. Doris Panos jewelry collections include earrings and necklaces, but the brand places a large emphasis on bracelets, cuffs, and bangles.
