Jewelry PR: Dogeared Jewelry

Jewelry designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke founded Dogeared in 1991 in hopes of creating a jewelry brand that was not only beautiful, but capable of perpetuating hope and positivity. Dogeared Jewelry is inspired by the laid-back California lifestyle, and the pieces emanate hope and happiness through the simplicity of the designs.

It’s no surprise that Dogeared has become such a phenomenon. The novelty jewelry not only makes the wearer look good, but feel good, too. The brand’s mission is to put good karma and energy out in the world, in hopes that it will be returned. This “pay it forward” mentality is a refreshing change from many major companies who toss throw such philanthropy to the wayside.

The Karma collection is one of the brand’s best sellers. Whether you choose a necklace, bracelet, or earrings, each design features a sterling silver or mixed metal circle. The circle is a symbol of connection and listening, and is a metaphor for the adage “What goes around comes around”. It’s a fashionable little reminder to keep positive, peaceful, and loving.

Make a Wish designs are by far the fan favorite. What’s most interesting about these creations is that they aren’t meant to last. Each charm is symbolic of a different ideal, ranging from luck to love, and fastened on to a thin string. Make a wish when you put your jewelry on, and when the string wears thin and the jewelry falls off, your wish will come true! Everybody could use a little extra optimism from time to time; this collection is a sweet way of keeping the spirit of hope alive.

Most recently, Dogeared has launched a Bridal collection. While the main focus of the collection is pearls, it also features a customizable card charm similar to the Make a Wish collection. Brides can choose string and charms that match the color and theme of their wedding – such a fabulous idea for bridal party gifts!

Execs at Dogeared know exactly how to market themselves. The brand has an active blog where employees will post their favorite jewelry picks, special events, and discount information. In addition, Dogeared tweets (@DogearedJewelry) and has both active Facebook and Myspace pages…though the latter may be a bit archaic!

All Dogeared products are eco-friendly and handmade.Visit www.dogearedjewelry.com to browse the collection.
