Timepiece Public Relations: IkePod

Watches speak volumes about a person’s character. It shows that the wearer values professionalism, punctuality, and style. For men especially, timepieces are a symbol of prestige and an excellent channel for expression of style and fashion sense.

Mark Newson wanted to create watches that were interesting, original, and aesthetically pleasing. His timepieces are unlike any other product on the market. The designs, although a bit futuristic, and incredibly pure, fluid, even elegant.

Each collection has a distinct inspiration reflected in the design. The Horizon collection, naturally, was inspired by the apparent line that divides earth and sky. Traditionally, the horizon represents a place where distance, space, and time become irrelevant. It’s an interesting concept for a time piece, but the inspiration translates beautifully into ten different variations of faceless watches.

The unisex Solaris collection represents a fantastically streamlined vision. The design is remarkably simple: a double-sided, reversible face with a circular clock set in a complimentary square bezel. There’s a style for every taste, from bright yellow gold to a dark stainless steel, all with sapphire crystal accents.

Ikepod fuses style and functionality perfectly with Megapode and Hemiopode, the most complex collections. Although made of rubber, the water-resistant timepieces still maintain the pure, modish designs that the brand is known for. Both collections feature time, date, chronograph, and GMT.

Newson has even created an Hourglass collection for Ikepod. Although hourglasses may seem a bit archaic, it’s clear the design is more for beauty than functionality. Each time piece has been created to mark precisely one hour of time, complete with nickel- or gold-plated nanoballs that rhythmically count down the seconds. Ikepod designs are quite exclusive, but the impeccable designs are well worth the asking price.
