California-based jewelry designer Cathy Waterman’s passion and creativity is evident in her handmade pieces. You’ve probably seen her work in any of the major glossies, on celebrities, or even on your favorite Sex and the City girl. The playful sophistication of the collections is hard to resist and the intricate, enchanting designs are never too much.
Cathy, a wife and mother of two, has said she draws inspiration from the beauty and simplicity of her children. She designs based on feeling and instinct, each creation inspired organically by her surroundings. Her pieces are made with materials of the finest quality -- 22 karat gold, hand-picked precious stones, diamonds – but the designs are never gaudy. They’re tasteful,
elegant, and most importantly, fun. The “Love of My Life” online collection is an interactive interface (found on ylang23) where users can peruse all of Cathy Waterman’s ring collections. The 40-page exhibition was released just in time for the bridal season, and displays every ring design since the brand’s inception right up until the latest collection.
All of Cathy Waterman’s designs are created using recycled metals and fair-trade certified stones. The website, www.cathywaterman.com features the jewelry collection and allows users to view the celebrities most recently seen sporting the designs. Additionally, there’s a section devoted to what the designers have been doing in the studio. There, you’ll find a delicious seasonal recipe or two, and you can even see what music the designers have been listening to– steal a bit of their playlist, perhaps you’ll get inspired!
Cathy Waterman jewelry can be found at Barneys stores and other fine retailers.
