Jewelry PR: Larkspur & Hawk

Inspired by the times, the Larkspur & Hawk jewelry collection represents classical, dated pieces with a charming modern flair.

The Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco time periods characterize this jewelry, giving it a unique, antique look. Founder and designer, Emily Satloff has a degree in the History of Decorative Arts, so she supplemented her love for 18th and 19th century jewelry with a modern-day design philosophy. Satloff was a curator at The New-York Historical Society and a consultant at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. This experience with fine antiques was perfect for launching a line that commends century-old techniques combined with a modern aesthetic.

Satloff creates a striking look with her foil technique, by manipulating the way light passes through gemstones with colored foils. This technique was very popular amongst European royalty. The stones used in the collection are brightly colored and include pink amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, rose quartz, white topaz, and of course diamonds. Her most recent collection, “Such is Life,” is based off the popular 18th century phrase and adds a personal sentiment to the jewelry. The motto is inscribed in many rings and bracelets.

There are also several gorgeous pieces in the Larkspur & Hawk antique collection that are designed to mimic history. The English Queen Anne’s own earring is the model for the “Anne” earring, while the “Sophia” and “Grace” rings come from British influence and the “Isabella” ring from Spanish nobility. The necklaces featured in the “Emma” collection are beautiful and I love the layered, draping design and the foiled crystals. They would be perfect to dress up any look and an easy way to add character to an ensemble.
