For a man, picking a watch can be a complicated and stressful event. There are different watches for different occasions, and the watch a 50 year old father wears is different from the watch a 20 year old college student wears. Here are some great ideas on how to pick the right watch for your wrist:
For the younger generation, try Nixon watches, which come in an array of styles and materials. The watches exude a young, hip edge, and not stuffy like something you borrowed from your father. The brand’s 51-30 PU Chrono is a great sports watch with a thick polyurethane band. For a more classic, not sporty look, the 51-30 Chrono gives off a high-end look for a fraction of the cost. Or, strap on the Time Teller watch, available in five varieties, ranging from only $80 to $100.
As you enter the work world and mature, it may seem like your watch should mature with you. Burberry makes great, Swiss-made watches, but less costly than high-end brands like Rolex or Cartier. The British brand’s watches are classic and come in a variety of styles, ranging from leather straps with gold faces, like the Endurance watch, or the silver Chronograph bracelet watch. These styles are affordable, but have a grown-up look and can be dressed up or down.
In such turbulent economic times, it might seem excessive to splurge on high-end timepieces, but Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual is a classic watch that will last you for years. Even better, find a great vintage Rolex, which are hot on the market these days, and will last long enough to pass on to your children!
These are just some suggestions for great watches to try this spring, but keep in mind, it will take lots of trying on before you find the one that’s perfect for you. Even better, get that someone special to splurge on your next birthday or anniversary! What are some of your favorite watch styles?
