Jewelry PR: Eco-friendly Prismera Design

Being environmentally and socially responsible is a big trend for businesses today, and Prismera Design is a unique jewelry brand who is doing both. Laura Su, designer of Prismera Design, handcrafts all of her botanical shaped jewelry which is all cut from stainless steel that is actually created from recycled components.

Laura Su started off her career at Rhode Island School of Design and has been handcrafting her jewelry since 2004. Su claims she is traditionally influenced in a more modern style. Her collections are based on versatility, comfort, sustainability, and often inspired by things that seem commonplace, such as a curve of a leaf or by certain plants and organic textures.

Laura Su’s one collection named noctiflora, was actually inspired by a nocturnal garden. There are some flowers that bloom exclusively at night and some that release their fragrance during the evening. Some of the flowers that she has gotten inspiration from are catchfly, cereus, jasmine, moovine, phlox, primrose, and yucca. These flowers only bloom for a short time and are so pretty. These night blooming flowers rarely have color, and she really captures the essence of the light in the steel of the jewelry. Laura claims that she has "...always had a love affair with botanicals.

Flowers and plants have been used as symbolism in art and decoration for centuries. I am fascinated by the stories behind them." On her website she describes the flower that she is trying to imitate so you can get a better feel of what you are actually wearing. Her Succulent collection are pieces also inspired by alluring nation forms of succulent plants.

Not only is Su’s Jewelry environmentally friendly being from recyclable materials, but 10 percent of all profits go to Keep America Beautiful. Her jewelry is intricate yet simple. The jewelry is very classy to wear to a fancy event, but also simple enough to be casual. It is overall the best combination of edgy femininity. Her jewelry can be purchased online at www.prismeradesign.com or at select boutiques listed on her website. Her flora & folium collection is actually 25% off the whole month of March, so shop away! What do you think of this eco-friendly designer?
