Jewelry Trend: Statement Jewelry Continues to be Big in 2009

In 2009 jewelry is all about making a statement. Costume jewelry is making a comeback due to the economy with big, bold jewelry being the ultimate fashion essential this Spring. Big and colorful statement jewelry were everywhere at the Golden Globes this year with big earrings, huge necklaces and standout bracelets. When it comes to the runway this season, boring is bad--statement jewelry will be catching attention with its big colorful baubles.

There are a couple different jewelry forms that are trendy right now such as geometric shapes, exotic or ethnic inspirations. Louis Vuitton and Micheal Kors are using the tribal style jewelry or rich colors with big stones or gems. Usually when having big pieces of stand out jewelry placing them with a solid color and solid print seemed appropriate. This season however, it seems the gloves are off and pairing big jewelry with fun bold colors and even patterns are taking the trend to make a bolder outfit. In their latest runway shows, Dolce & Gabbana have been pairing big colorful jewelry with bright prints. If you like to go more subtle however, pairing statement pieces with a little black dress or just jeans and a plain t-shirt will look just as good. Whatever you choose to pair them with, the bigger and more color the better, and the jewelry that looks most unique will get more notice.

Layering necklaces with color will be a great eye catching look while pairing them with something simple such as a white Spring dress. Some great colors to choose from this spring are turquoise, jade, Amazonite greens and bright purples and pinks. Accessorizing is an excellent opportunity to express your personality and set yourself apart from other people… so this season think big bold color. Cocktail rings are a personal favorite. What form of statement jewelry will set you apart this season?
