Men's Fitness Trend: Caveman Lifestyle and Evolutionary Fitness

Just when I think I have heard it all when it comes to fitness trends and diet programs, the Caveman Lifestyle comes along. What is the Caveman Lifestyle you ask? Well, for one, it doesn't involve grunting and talking in one syllable words. Taken at initial face value, it's very primal in replicating the eating and activity habits of our ancestors. So how can you merge a lifestyle of hunting and gathering in a place like New York City? Certainly, one would starve trying to find a deer on the West Side Highway. But don't let that obstacle stop you, this new "Evolutionary Fitness" trend, as coined by Arthur De Vany, being picked up predominately by men, is a bit less crazy than you may think.

Many diets exclude eating breads and processed foods with a focus on vegetables, fruits and meats and many fitness routines involve cross training. This new (or old, however you want to look at it) fitness trend is a combination of both. The Caveman lifestyle also incorporates fasting to replicate the time spent hunting and having gone without nourishment. Exercise includes short bursts of high intensity exercise, similar to HIIT I would assume.

For now, the cavemen are a subculture trying to make an ancient lifestyle fit into a modern one. However, while this lifestyle seems very strict, I think the timing couldn't be better while living in an economy where we have to survive on less. Much like our ancestors before us.
