Fitness Trends: HIIT Is Quickly Becoming the Hottest Fitness Workout

This is the time of year, besides bathing suit season of course, that we all begin to focus on weight loss. Those impending holiday party invitations are enough to make anyone want to go into hiding until next year...that is, if your body is not where you want it to be to fit into that perfect LBD for these soirees. However, there is a fitness workout that has been gaining speed, quite literally, in the last year that may be just what you need to shed those pounds while retaining the muscle you already have.

High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, has become popular among many celebrities and fitness fanatics as well. It is said that HIIT is one of the best ways to burn fat faster than low-intensity cardio. In fact, overall you will burn fat in a shorter duration of time versus longer steady-state exercise. However, as the name of the workout indicates, high intensity means pushing your body to the limit and out of your comfort zone than your typical fitness routine.

Some of the benefits of HIIT are:

* It increases your metabolism for up to 18 hours post workout.

* It improves your endurance and stamina.

* You'll retain the muscle you already have while burning fat and calories.

* The duration of your workout time is much less, although at a higher intensity than a typical workout.

* Helps avoid weight loss plateau by avoiding your body adapting to your workout routine.

Have you incorporated HIIT into your exercise routine? Have you seen better results because of it?
