Denim: 7 For All Mankind, Premium "Fancy Pants" For Fashion Focused Consumer

7 For All Mankind is a must-have brand for the Fashionista and celebrity alike. 7 For All Mankind’s women's premium denim line exploded onto the scene in 2000 with virtually no competition. In the years that followed they developed a men’s denim collection, a children’s line and an outerwear and shirt collection that reached beyond their comfort zone of denim into a variety of other fabrics such as satin, corduroy and twill. This Spring we’ll see a women’s knit collection, as well as, KA7, a collaboration between designer Katayone Adeli and 7 For All Mankind to create a women’s contemporary sportswear collection.

7 For All Mankind denim is known for it perfect fit and premium denim leaving you feeling luxurious and certainly not ordinary with their couture styling. Even for moms like Jennifer Garner, you certainly don’t have to wear mom jeans anymore when you have 7 For All Mankind’s “A” Pocket design. Other celebrities who love to show off their assets in 7 For All Mankind denim are Scarlett Johannson, Eva Longoria, Cameron Diaz and Rachel Bilson. It is due to their strong celebrity following and product placement that they have been able to bring about brand awareness that has created a frenzy in the denim market.

I took a quick poll from the Pierce Mattie Brand Advocates and found that in addition to 7 For All Mankind, Diesel, True Religion and Levi's were the fancy pants of choice in New York and Los Angeles.

While Dress Sales Surge, Denim Is On The Decline

With the Spring/Summer 2007 dress trend in full swing, it appears that one staple of fashion has hit a brick wall when it comes to sales. Denim, which has spurred a profitable premium market, is beginning to see a slow down and decrease in sales ever since the designers of Fashion Week deemed the dress as the must-have clothing of the season.

Fashion Writer, Elizabeth Wellington of the Philadelphia Inquirer, wrote an article this past weekend that caught my attention. According to her article and the New York-based market research firm NPD, sales of moderately priced jeans saw an 11.7% drop from $284 million in the first five months of 2006 to $250 million with dress sales increasing 27% from $4.5 billion to $5.7 billion. While the premium denim market still made a 24% increase in 2006/2007, it is not nearly the 46% increase that it saw in the previous year.

As temperatures begin to cool down come October, it appears entirely possible that navy and deep blues will replace our denim “look” and according to Wellington, we’ll be seeing these colors in tailored trousers. While I’ve also found myself wearing less denim this Summer, I can’t imagine doing away with it entirely, most especially in colder weather. I’ve always loved the look of a warm sweater and denim in the Fall and to think of a season without it, seems unimaginable.

What do you think; will denim continue its back burner status or return come Fall?

Fall Fashion Trend: Wide Leg Trousers

Fairwell skinny jeans. I won't really miss you all that much as I am currently in love with wide leg trousers."
That seems to be the conversation many women are having with their wardrobe as we begin to sort through our closets to get ready for Fall. I personally prefer the wide leg trouser look whether it's pleated or not, high-waisted or not, in denim or not, cuffed trousers...or not. The thing about this fabulous Fall fashion trend is that wide leg trousers make any body shape look flattering. Skinny jeans? Not so much.

Wide leg trousers are easy to dress up or down and there is such versatility in which shoes/boots you can wear with them. I absolutely love the ones pictures above. They are Wardrobe Stretch Denim Trousers and can be found at Nordstrom's for $68.

What are your thoughts on this Fall fashion trend? Vote in our poll and let us know!
