Miss Universe 2010 Pageant Fashion Tonight

While beauty pageants aren't held in the same regard as they did at one time, there is still one thing to be loved about pageants like Miss Universe 2010. The fashion. It's like being at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week watching a show represented by all aspects of the globe. I not only adore seeing the costumes, gowns and swimsuits donned by our very own Miss USA, but how fashion is interpreted from countries around the world. In a pageant seen by millions, this is a one-time chance to demonstrate unique style and taste to distinguish one country from another.

If the fashion we'll see tonight is anything remotely like the National Costume preview that was held last week, then there will surely be some outstanding winners of style and others that fall flat. There were definitely a few costumes that simply looked like a swimsuit with beads, others that resembled RTW and others still that left you scratching your head (such as this costume from Miss Dominican Republic (what in the world is that supposed to be on her head, decorative antlers?)

From the jewelry to the clothing to the footwear (my favorite part by far), what we can expect is to find these pageant beauties falling in line with global fashion trends.

But what will be less than fashionable at Miss Universe 2010? The celebrity judges (aka "celebrity apprentice.) William Baldwin and Chyna Phillips? Sheila E? (Ok I loved her in the 80's, but is this how she is going to make a comeback?) Cris Angel? (I get it, he's gorgeous and it IS Las Vegas after all...) Donald Trump was quoted as calling his panel "top celebrity judges," but the only one on the list that I could even remotely agree with and that even makes sense, is Niki Taylor.

Also? Brett Michaels as host. Enough said.

Will you be watching Miss Universe tonight? Who do you think has the best sense of style?
