Fashion PR: Richard Tyler Ignores the Plus Size Fashion Market

Even with top plus sized fashion retailers like Lane Bryant, Catherines, Ashley Stewart, The Avenue and Silhouettes, there is still room for new designers and retailers to tap into the plus size market to design stylish women clothing. However, this market was recently ignored when Delta Airlines debuted their new chic and bold uniforms as designed by Richard Tyler a few weeks ago. The chatter surrounding the sexy new uniforms was not about it's modern flair, but focused on size, as a flight attendant can only be less than a size 18 to don one.

Union workers are seeing red over Delta's failure to offer bigger sizes for its signature red dress uniform designed by Richard Tyler, whose dresses have been worn by stars such as Julia Roberts, Heather Locklear and Jamie Lee Curtis. A Delta spokeswoman said the airline offers a range of outfits in other colors and styles up to size 28 that flight attendants can wear. Delta’s navy blue uniforms are offered to women wearing up to a size 28, but I’m sure vivacious red is a top choice over boring blue. Everyone should get a choice.

Richard Tyler, promised a classier - and in some cases, sexier - look for flight attendants, airport agents and other workers. Air travel used to be sexy, glamorous and sophisticated – no matter what size a woman wore and should continue that same standard. What do you think?
