Retro Swimwear Can Be Yours with Michael Kors

Seeing the swimwear collections this summer have confirmed it for me: fashion has officially reversed 40 or so years. Collections from all the top designers are dripping with retro – style, color palette, all paired with apple red lips. And luckily, if you happen to have packed on a few extra pounds this winter, and aren’t, shall we say, bikini appropriate, the one-piece is back in style.

Many designers are offering retro one-pieces, from simple to super detailed, for the tot-toting mom or the summer fashionista (which of course, you can be one in the same!) The returning fashion, inspired by the 1930s and 1980s mostly, is aiming at a much more modest yet glamorous look. High-waists and thigh-skimming suits are what it’s all about, and itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikinis, are, well, not.

Designer Michael Kors has out this summer a more toned-down retro looking line if you’re not feeling the whole ultra-retro trend. His bikini still adds a twist with a skirt and bright colors, but doesn’t scream 1970. The good thing about trends dating back a few decades, is that the tight-for-money college girl can raid her mom’s closet for baubles and clothing, save some cash and still be ahead of the trends.

Are you loving this trend? Which style is your favorite?
