Since launching his first collection in 2007, Alexander Wang has taken the industry by storm with his rock edge, impeccable style, and his effortless cutting-edge sensibility in his pieces that celebrities, socialites, and fashionistas swoon over. This year with his resort 2010 collection, Wang has gone for the all-American sportswear look, and of course adding his signature edginess as well.
This year Wang ditches the usual floral of the resort look and went a bit softer with classic shapes
like the khaki trench (which I love!) and the fisherman’s sweater, which was so perfectly deconstructed. Wang uses fabric choices of jersey, denim, and knit, but adding a twist showing lots of khaki this season (which I feel has much to do with his upcoming design collaboration with GAP.)
His color pallet included white, grey, khaki, black, periwinkle and navy. Wang adds in those small details like the exposed front zipper on the short midnight blue dress and his black jacket with multiple zippers, which is definitely one of my favorites. I love his rock star edge, but also love when he goes a bit softer with his dresses, which drape so perfectly and are exceptionally timeless (although I am a bit skeptical on the jean jackets paired with some of them.) This was resort with an edge, very undeniably chic, and very versatile--I loved it.
This collection has made me very anxious for the GAP collaboration launching next week, with the line including an eclectic mix of denim, khaki, grey jersey, satin, cut-outs, t-shirts, shorts that have been given signature Alexander Wang treatment. What do you think of this collection?
