The work of Augusta Jones bridal collection can be traced back to the Danish and British roots of Charlotte Leung. Additional inspiration came from her stepmother June Leung who brought in her talent and influence in the form of art deco. Art deco is a purely decorative style traced back to mid-1920s. June Leung also had a fascination with period piece jewelry. The Augusta Jones family prides itself with the use of just the right amount of decoration centered around their dresses. This keeps the dresses elegant and modern, the right detailing of jewels, lace, pearls, and other decoration. Too much detailing and the dress would look messier than a heated accusation in the boardroom of The Apprentice.
The Augusta Jones collection features over one hundred dresses, each uniquely named. From
Bella to Kira to Madagascar and Penelope, each dress is given a unique character by the Augusta Jones designers. They treat each dress as if they were individual art pieces. The style of art deco also influenced the pop art movement and contemporary design movement.
The dress, Spring, is a particularly fabulous strapless mermaid dress that would be perfect for a bride walking down the aisle in the next couple of months. What the Augusta Jones collection has done with their bridal gowns is create pieces of art. They sought to perfect three core principles while designing: styling, flexibility, and affordability. Since beginning, the company has won three British Bridal finalist awards and is regularly featured in top bridal magazines. The label is available in over 150 stores worldwide. You can catch a glimpse of the 2009 collection as well as browse past designs on their website www.augustajones.com
