Fashion Apps: The New Wave of Mobile Fashion PR

With an iPhone being a predominant player in the mobile entertainment world, fashion brands are publicizing their collections on the small iPhone platform in many different ways. Some have paid top dollar making full-feature applications for their PR, marketing and reporting abilities.

Style.coms's iPhone application has the most buzz, being the premiere application with access to hundreds of fashion designer collection photos with complete coverage, parties where the fashion and names collide, a concrete section for men's fashion, and access to the latest articles in their Style File blog and exclusive vdeos. Mobile video is BIG, I remember working my way up the ranks of the mobile media world processing thousands of graphics and audio clips daily. Mobile video is only going to become more consuming as companies embrace the medium further. Advertisers know the market is growing too. Style.com reported over one million ads served via iPhone in a single month! I find myself flipping through many of Style.com's photos on the train to and fro. The quality of the pictures compare to the ones you find on their website without all the, dare I say it, clutter.

Fashion Network also has a simple to use application that lists out all the video coverage. It has reels from Moschino's runway show with his huge bow ties to the décolletage of Roberta Scarpa's dresses. Right now, the feature collections are from Milan Fashion Week Spring and Summer 2009.

Ralph Lauren has an iPhone splash application especially dedicated to the Fall 2009 and Spring 2009 collections, enticing users to explore the Ralph Lauren Collection with highlight videos, a look book, special video slideshows, and a handy store finder that serves both the United States and International markets.

Of course don't forget Portfolio by ndustrimobile, showcasing runway shows to a cell phone near you.

What fashion applications have you discovered that you can't live without?
