Simply Vera Wang; Does This Shift Her Position in the Bridal Industry?

So you're getting married?  Congratulations! What is the most important decision you will make in the coming months? Your dress, of course!  Immediately you wonder what the authority on bridal fashion, Vera Wang, has to offer.  Whilst navigating through her chicly clean site, you notice a tab "Partners." That is when you remember Vera has recently pulled an Isaac Mizrahi and designs a private label for the discount store Kohl's.

Vera Wang did a very recessionista thing by offering her design talent to the discount retailer, but does this move hurt her reputation as the Queen of bridal fashion? Wang made her mark in the fashion sphere with high-end bridal gowns.  Chosen as the designer of many a celebrity gown, the analogy (in terms of weddings) could be made- Vera is to gowns as Tiffany's is to rings.  At a price point of "price upon request" it's no wonder Wang's name (along with her elegant designs) became the best a bride could ask for.

In the wake of much success, Vera delved into RTW collections sans bridal.  Her refreshing juxtaposition between casualness and elegance was evident in these lines and the fashion world greatly accepted the bridal queen as a well-rounded designer.

Nowadays, Wang designs the private label, Simply Vera Wang, for Kohl's.  The price range is moderate compared to her aforementioned designs--still, no bargain basement garments here.  The line is largely sucessful in partial thanks to great brand communication (aka public relations).

What about the "new" image of Vera Wang? Does this detract from her status as the go-to for the best bridal gown possible?
