The third fall 2008 trend I chose to feature for fall 2008 I call SoHo Boho. Note I did not say hobo boho...I definitely said SoHo Boho, as the Bohemian trend seen across the big fashion houses is the artsy yet polished bohemian influence that can be easily associated with the SoHo region of New York City.
The typical earthy bohemian patterns are only on trend this fall when paired with lavish leather and sophisticated black. Of course fringe and flow will be present in any bohemian landscape of design but too much of it will make you Stevie Nicks instead of Nicole Richie (ok I know I just switched coasts for a moment, but she totally gets it). For example if you choose one of the romantic flowly frocks of John Galliano or Dries Van Noten, please resist the temptation to wear your mockasin boots (no matter how much you will end up loving your Sam Edelman pair). Instead, pair with black tights and boots for an incredibly organic yet sleek look.
Trend Evidence Exibit A: Gucci wins the gold in Bohemian Chicness with this and many other looks in the fashion great's Fall 08 collection. I love the depth of the layers and the detailing that add interest to an all black ensemble. I had the pleasure of visiting those glorious boots in person today, yum.

Trend Evidence Exibit B: Roberto Cavalli proves the opposite influences can work in harmony to create this whole take on Bohemian. The contrast between the sequins and mesh with the floral and silk work together in an ode to akward gracefullness.

Trend Evidence Exibit C: Anna Sui gives us earthy chic in this vibrantly patterned sheath matched with a monochromatic leg. Bohemian revolutionary on top/manhattan maven thigh down.
Are you up for the challenge? Try these accesories for an everyday demonstration of this style straddling trend:

a. I had to feature Gucci's expertise in this trend with this studded wrap belt. b. In celebrity fashion, braid your locks at your part to create a romantic bohemian daytime updo. b. Botkier's Morgan carries both your everyday essentials and more importantly this noteworthy trend across.
Look out for Future Femme, another fall 2008 trend forecast.
