Two weeks ago, I spent a few days in Beverly Hills. The weather was beautiful, the type of days that make you envy anyone who lives in California. Cool mornings..long sunny days with beautiful sunsets.. and breezy cool nights.

I stayed at the hotel in the center of it all - The Beverly Wilshire Hotel. You know the lobby from Julia Roberts stomping through in thigh high boots and wisking out in that sexy red gown in Pretty Women. (just the lobby, the pool scene in the movie was shot at the W in Westwood). The hotel is a classic and you can feel the pedigree in the walls as you stroll through the property. The entire place has been renovated but luckily, it's charm is intact. There is an incredibly decedent feeling to stay a few yards from the hustle and bustle of this famous village and to be so protected and comforted. This is definitely worth a splurge if you can find a way to stay here once.

What shocked me day after day during my week in La La land were the man made sites I saw invading Rodeo and Wilshire from noon to 9pm.
You see, Beverly Hills is not only the center of luxury shopping in the U.S. - it is also the mecca for bad plastic surgery. I think it is something in the plastic surgery handbook that says you must go to B.H. at least once a year. Now I know that plastic surgery is a wonderful discovery that can change someone's life who has been born with a deformity or has suffered a devastating illness or accident.
The majority of patients however seem to be those with too much time on their hands and ample cash to pay for it! Men have gotten into the act as well. I never saw so many plumped up lips, breasts, and brows in my life! Its a fact, Beverly Hills has the most plastic surgeons per square mile than any other city in the U.S.
Of course with great volume comes great variety. You have the good, the bad, and the ugly! It's so strange, as people carry more and more exotic reptile bags that are aged and creased - they obsess to make their own faces smoother and smoother... what does it mean? The norm used to be to fix that big bump you hated on your nose, or of course to give you a little more cleavage to fill out that bikini. But now - anything goes! Acid peels, brow lifts, butt lifts!!

There are women who are closer to 80 with faces that are like that of a 30 year olds. They look smooth or tight, but not good! I wonder where the line is to going "too far" with surgery?
I want to know how in this day and age with all the media coverage we have, people can be that delusional to keep going and going as they start to look like science projects.

And what the hell happened to Courtney Love?? She used to have this punk ass, sexy energy that would shake a room when she walked in...
I was just at a party with her in Paris (more to come on that trip!) and she is like a zombie!!! Its like she burnt out her brain on one type of acid and then burned off her emotions with another! I love Courtney and wish she would get it together and release another album.
How much is too much? Any thoughts out there?
