The Beverly Hills of Mexico City - Polanco

After you have spent a day or two sightseeing in museums and the local squares - its time to have a relaxing day in Mexico City's lush garden neighborhood. Polanco is the area that is home to the most luxurious hotels, restaurants and designer boutiques! Home to Mexico's rich and famous - the lush surroundings are an oasis from the hectic pace of the city and the crowded city streets.

This is where you find the best hotels in town. One of the newest and one of only a few high rises is the W hotel. With sleek modern design and excellent amenities, including that famous W "Heavenly Bed" - it is an excellent place to spend some well deserved downtime. The modern rooms have a unique design that incorporates floor to ceiling windows in the open plan bathroom - complete with a hammock to swing in high above the city skyline. The Red, White, and Black color scheme is unexpected, surprising, calming and chic.

My first trip to Mexico city was several years ago. A fashion designer friend of mine called on a Monday afternoon. He wanted to know what my plans were for the week. Turns out a friend of his from Mexico City was launching a fashion magazine. It seems her father had sold a company and had a few hundred million dollars to invest! I was told to go to the Airport on Thursday and there would be a first class ticket waiting for me... how could you say no??? (This was one time my freelance schedule really paid off)
