What is the most popular fabric in the U.S.? in the world?
If you look at the broad spectrum of all price points, the answer is easy - DENIM. This you probably knew. What you might not know is that Denim is French! Yes, thats right, the classic symbol that is as American as apple pie has a history that is more apple tarte. Denim roots are from a small town in France called Nimes. Think De-Nim. Its as simple as that. Way back in 1873 a taylor from Nevada realized that miners with gold rush fever needed some stable work clothes while searching for that big nugget! Jacob Davis had an original idea to reinforce pocket seams with copper studs. He had the idea, but not the money to file the patent. Mr. Levi Strauss , a German immigrant did have the money. He also had a business selling tents to miners made of "serge de nimes". The two had the brainstorm and the partnership was born! Now the original work fabric crosses all price points and life style's. Can you even imagine your wardrobe without that favorite pair of Jeans? Oui? NO!!!
