Recently at a party we hosted in our Times Square showroom I had the pleasure of meeting the team at MD Corrective Care. At first glance the brand looks fun, flirty and quite colorful. When I took the kit home and applied it I knew the medical grade power packed formulas were something quite special. It wasn't till the next morning when I awoke and saw the sun damage, fine lines and spots on my face start to fade that I realized I was really in-love with this brand. Naturally we wanted more information on this wonder product, we sat down with Celine Arends, the co-founder of MD Corrective Care, this is what she shared with us...
What’s the story behind MD Corrective Care?
MD Corrective Care was created to simplify professional skin care. Since the early 1990s, the industry went through a lot of changes: from European-moulded to medical-inspired concept, emergence of new distribution channels (home shopping and e-commerce), appearance of mass-tige sector and an overdose of products and services. As French ladies residing in New York and working within the industry, myself and my associate Cecile Williams witnessed first-hand this evolution.
We wanted to service a niche by fusing together different concepts and industries:
- concept of medical, results-oriented skin care with the world of spa
- idea of American efficiency with European savoir faire
- professional skin care brand with smart retail branding
- a simple, systematic approach with specialty skin care
After five years of rigorous testing and development, MD Corrective Care was launched in Fall 2008 to service this niche. We are an energetic, independent and women-only company located in the thriving Fashion District of NYC.
At MD Corrective you mantra is Peel, Seal, Reveal, can you go into more detail on what that means?
MD CORRECTIVE CARE uses “the second skin technology” delivery system in all formulas.
The Peel, Seal, Reveal concept brings this to life and is designed to demystify the concept of peeling:
PEEL with home-care “mini-peels” and professional peels featuring AHAs or BHAs (Alpha or Beta Hydroxyl Acids) to help slough away dead skin cells, stimulate cellular turnover and reveal a younger, fresher and smoother “second skin.”
SEAL with a micro-patch delivery system which acts like a “second skin” to restructure, rebuild and protect the skin.
This micro-patch sealing system is featured in our post-peel products and is customized to address either:
- Mature skin (Age Defying)
- Oily skin (Purifying)
- Sensitive skin (Soothing)
- Photo-damaged skin (Brightening)
REVEAL – fresh, radiant skin.
Does an MD Corrective patient stick with the same skin care regime or do they interchange them? Can you give us some examples...
Your skin changes according to internal (hormones, stress, etc) and external (environment, lifestyle, humidity levels) factors so it is necessary to sometimes switch up your regime. To give you an example, post-summer is my Brightening Skin System season as humidity levels begin to drop and I look to rectify any summer sins that appear on their skin (sun spots, uneven skin tone). In December, I will switch up to the Soothing Skin System with cocooning, nourishing, hydrating and protecting ingredients which are great for shielding against the cold and arid environment of New York winters (as well as centrally heated offices and apartments).
We hear from medical spas that peels are where the results are, tell us about your peels.
Each of our home care skin systems are designed to be used with professionally administered peels, all customized according to your needs.
We offer:
- lactic acid (great with the soothing skin system)
- salicylic & glycolic acids (used with purifying skin system)
- glycolic & lactic acids (excellent with the age defying or brightening skin system).
The benefits of these peels extend beyond face and can be used as petite peels on the elbows, knees, hands and feet. What’s next for MD Corrective, any upcoming product launches2010 will see us opening the international markets with distribution agreements in Korea, France and the UK.
The Cosmoprof Show (Bologna, Italy) will provide a platform to showcase our concept to the global market.

My experience with Rodan & Fields Determatologists with their new Reverse Sun Damage regimen is excellent too! It worked for me!
