This Paris Fashion Week, the accessory aspects of the shows, including hair and makeup were, defined ready-to-wear. Maybe this was to offset the truly not-ready-to-wearness of many of the clothes.
According to the designers from Paris Fashion Week, you have two hairstyle options for fall and they are polar opposites. Although there were some different styles displayed on the runway, there seemed to be competition going between two: super-slick updos and natural, flowy hair. While flipping through pictures of Fashion Week, almost every show featured these two styles. It was like the hair gods commissioned it. Seriously though, what I like is the simplicity of these hairstyles. They are uncomplicated and pretty ways for us common folk to wear our hair. So, will these trends be reflected off the runway?
Here's how you can achieve Paris Fashion Week hair:
Slick Updo - In order to look like the models at Nina Ricci (pictured right), you're going to need lots and lots of hairspray. Depending on how much you're willing to spend. Thus, I'd suggest doing this in a well-ventilated area. Try John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm-Hold Hairspray. You really don't want flyaways with the slick-updo and this product will keep them tame.
Natural waves - You'll still need a little hairspray to get the look stylists created for Chanel (pictured left), but much, much less. If you have naturally straight hair, use Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to create some texture. A large-barreled curling iron may be necessary if your hair is slick-straight. If so, loosely wrap thick section around the barrel and hold for 8 seconds. Another idea for straight hair is to wash, wrap it into a bun while its still damp, and sleep on it. When you wake up, your hair should have lovely, loose waves.
If your hair is naturally curly, you must first straighten your hair or at least blow dry. Try not to go crazy with the flat-iron, otherwise it will refuse curls. Then, use a large-barreled curling iron and follow the above instructions.
What do you think of these Fall '09 hairstyles? Are they your style?

Wow, Fall 2009? I'm barely in flip flops and should already be thinking about sweaters!
Loving the natural waves though...
