Amanda Lepore's Fragrance Launch & Photoshop Controversy

We all have our bad beauty days...hair just won't work with you, bags under the eyes and is that a new wrinkle on your forehead? We've all been there and we've all secretly thanked Adobe for the magic of Photoshop. However, Amanda Lepore's launch of her fragrance Amanda has not only given the most popular transexual on the planet a few minor adjustments here and there..it seems to have created a new look for her overall. She looks flawless here, no? Now what happens when she's not photoshopped?

Are there even any words? It's like looking at a completely different person. Not only is the difference clear in her face but her hands don't look anything like the petite and purely porcelain fingers in the fragrance photo.

What do you think when celebrities get a digital makeover for the sake of selling product? Does it make a difference whether you buy the product or not?

Correcting photos is completely acceptable to a point. In the example above. It is acceptable and necessary. Camera work can be tricky, angles, lighting, outfits. What is not acceptable is over correcting and drastic changes. Not only is it a lie, but negatively contributes a person perception of their body image. Vanity Fair's cover with Kate Winslet was beautiful, but I could find the photo shop work done in order to give her a more svelt look. She is amazing with curves, why say that she can't have them?

In general, I think products - shown or worn on a person w/an outfit - help potential buyers seem themselves as the model they are looking at; they are more likely to buy.

Why - because instead of the customer having to think about and envisioning a product working for them, you are showing them it works, and how it works; telling them - Yes, this bracelet/dress/shoe works for you. Buy it.
