Short answer; YES!
My fellow Floridians and I have a little joke, that is – ever since Will Smith did the 1998 song/video; “Miami” - the town went to the crapper. Maybe that is why all of them have relocated to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Cut a decade later to Bravo’s new reality show; Miami Social which aired its season finale last night and it confirms why we moved away from that little sand dune back in the era of Versace’s murder.
Let’s recap why Miami Social is bad press for America’s 43rd most populace’s city otherwise known as Miami. If you were to judge a book by its cover Bravo’s show is nothing more than a spin-off of the horny housewives franchise though this time they have added men, single women and bisexuals to the mix. It rings true of the earlier days of MTV’s Real World, but the characters, I mean - real people here are a little more grown up, as viewers watch them dodge divorces, crazy girlfriends and nervous twitches (poor George). More importantly they are constantly being upstaged by non-cast members, ie: Lina (please don't bring her back!)
Stereotypically speaking:· They are desperate to look good! Michael you do not need hair plugs, please ignore Ariel.
· George you are so not over Sorah, get back with your ex-wife and stop making a mess out of your life. We are embarrassed for you!
· Maria, go pick your kid up at boarding school and be a MOM!
· Hardy, maybe you don’t want to get married to your girlfriend because you secretly are in-love with George. Come OUT already.
· Katrina, love ya – but less mascara and eyeliner going forward and stop making your family work for you.
· Ariel – I agree with your stance on Andrew Christian, if we had a fashion client behave like that at a casting – they would be so fired! Was he on something?
Ask yourself?
· Were the storylines compelling?
· Did you enjoy the cast?
· Would you watch the second season (if they produce one)?
When are we going to stop watching these programs? They are getting old and boring and I for one am about ready to cancel my subscription to cable (again!). Your thoughts?
