The Golden Globes: Celebrity Image Changers

The pre-Oscars awards’ season frenzy is underway! Nominations for the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced a few weeks ago and everyone is buzzing about the nominees and what we'll see on the red carpet. Among those nominated were Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Now that’s something to celebrate! The happy couple were nominated for best actor and actress in a dramatic role for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Changeling. Although, Jolie has won before, this win could be the first for Pitt who has yet to secure a Golden Globe.

Winning a Golden Globe can often change an actor/actresses image for the better and catapult them to even bigger stardom. How can Pitt or Jolie get any bigger? In the case of Angelina Jolie, after she won her first Golden Globe she was automatically offered bigger roles and her bad girl image was quickly withdrawn and turned into that of the professional actress that we see today. With Pitt, we could see his work changing into bigger Oscar worthy roles giving him bigger opportunities and the possibility of an Oscar win!

Besides Pitt, other dramatic leading actor nominees include Leonardo DiCaprio Revolutionary Road; Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon; Sean Penn, Milk and Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler. Jolie has quite the competition among the nominees for best dramatic actress including, Meryl Streep in Doubt, Anne Hathaway , Rachel Getting Married; and Kristin Scott Thomas, I've Loved You So Long.

Have you seen any of the films mentioned? Which actors/actresses do you feel had their image transformed once they won a Golden Globe?
