OntheFly Benefit - Gift Ideas that Give Back

Theworldisjustenough.jpg

When I think of the holiday season, the first things that come to mind are snowmen, Santa and gifts. I think what’s more important that what gifts you receive though is what you give back to loved ones and your community.

In spirit of the holiday season, OntheFly.com is hosting The World is Just Enough, a charity shopping event benefiting City of Dreams, a San Francisco non-profit dedicated to helping at-risk youths build brighter futures through mentoring programs.

The event will take place at OntheFly’s San Francisco storefront next Friday, November 17th from 6:00 p.m. until late. Five percent of total sales will go to City of Dreams, in addition to 100 percent of all raffle proceeds. For more information on the event, visit OntheFly.com.

For those of you reading this that are not in San Francisco, I’ve compiled a list of some luxury gifts for the men in your life who have everything. All are available at OntheFly.com.

Aaron Barak Monticello or Classic Satchel Bag
Aaron Barak is the modern revision of classic style, reminiscent of a time when men wore hats and opened doors for women. It is that image of a refined man and attention to detail that inspired Aaron Barak’s collection of leather bags and accessories. To help keep the men in your life organized in the New Year, the Satchel Bag, with shoulder strap, comes with a removable access pad, an interior divider and zip pockets, and has a push-button lock under the buckle. It is available in the Classic dark brown and Monticello caramel-colored leather.
Retail Price: $875

Shanghai Shave Set by HOMMAGE
In the past several years there has been a throw back in the grooming market to an era when men took pride in their morning shave. HOMMAGE takes the look of the classic razor and shave brush and combines it with a modern, high-design look that is functional and beautiful all in the same right. The Shanghai Shave Set is the newest collection from famed-European designer Wolfgang Joensson, who designed all the collections for HOMMAGE. The handsome, red-lacquered razor and brush handle both hold magnetically to the stand, bringing a modern architectural element to any bathroom. Retail Price: $375

Gary Scott USA Titanium Wallet
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t suggest buying a wallet as a gift. I’d much rather have the money you would spend on it to put in the one I already own. In the case of the USA Titanium Wallet from Gary Scott, this is one that any American would be proud to own.

At the moment, the price of titanium has skyrocketed due to the war, potentially making this wallet a limited edition; once they’re gone no more will be produced. Made of forged titanium and rivets “that look like they could withstand a nuclear blast,” the wallet has a built-in money clip, while cards and ID fits snugly under a clasp that adjusts to the number of cards being stored. If that’s not enough to make you stand up and salute, keep reading my other gift ideas. Retail Price: $295

Ambrogio EVOLUTION Robot Lawnmower
Growing up, I had my fair share of weekly chores, one of which was mowing the lawn. I hated it. If only I had had access to the Ambrogio EVOLUTION Robot Lawnmower. This revolutionary, compact mower includes patented "auto programming" software, which incorporates recognition of the area percentage mowed. This feature allows the robot to regulate itself in terms of mowing time for better yard maintenance and better performance. To top it off, it’s virtually silent. How cool is that? This is one gift that is certain to save a lot of time and energy for all the gardeners in your life. Retail Price: $3,250

Chateau Laguiole Champagne Saber
I’m a bit of a showman when it comes to cooking and entertaining, which is one reason why I love this gift idea so much. While the Chateau Laguiole Champagne Saber isn’t practical for everyday use, using a saber to open a bottle of champagne, known as sabrage, is a technique wrapped up in tradition, romance and elegance. The saber is available in two colors – red and blue – and the site gives step-by-step instructions on how to use it. The recipient is sure to turn a few heads when they open and use this gift. What a great tool to help ring in the New Year. Retail Price: $325
