Scarlett's Jo'Heartin'

Reebok has a new line in the works, and can you guess who the face attached to it belongs to? If you’re thinking of an athlete, you’re totally wrong. If the person on your mind is a rapper, try again. This line’s celeb endorsement will come from the voluptuous vixen, Scarlett Johansson. Though it hasn’t been said whether or not she’ll be involved in the design process, she’s signed to a multiyear contract in the development and marketing of “Scarlett ‘Hearts’ RBK.” Scheduled to debut in spring 2007 at high end department stores and boutiques worldwide, the line will consist of “fashion-forward, athletic inspired footwear and apparel.”

As a bit of a sneakerhead, I’m interested to see what the line will look like. However, since I’ve never known Ms. “Lost in Translation” to have been lauded for her sporty style or sneaker swagger, I find the match up a bit weird. I mean, Mischa Barton has been cute for Keds, but she’s just a model for the line. I also totally understand RBK’s desire to have stand-out stars as their spokespeople. Some might even say that if Jay-Z and 50 Cent can be considered iconic enough to warrant their own brands, an actress who’s on every mag’s best dressed list should have hers too. One could also say that a sense of style should be able to cross over into any category… taste is taste. I guess I’ll have to wait until the line hits the racks before I can formulate a real opinion. So, add Scarlett ‘Hearts’ RBK to the list of things I’m anxiously anticipating.
