Hair and purple blazers

Last night’s showdown on American Idol began with the first ever reality television series red carpet. The contestants and judges arrived dressed to the double nines with hair and makeup prepared to impress. The fifth season of Idol demonstrates its growing popularity and marks a new impact on American pop culture. Over 75 million votes came in for the final results; more than any US president has received in history. The contestants received extreme fashion advice, attention, and image-altering publicity. So what does this say about American pop and fashion culture?

As provided by www.americanidol.com, the transformation from average Joe to American Idol is thanks to a team of very talented celebrity stylists: wardrobe stylist Miles Siggins, hair stylist Dean Banowetz, and makeup artist Mezghan Hussainy. All three have worked together to bring out the features of the singers and let their own artistic appeal take over. Hussainy used many hair care and style products including a slew of Joico products to give the contestants a solid look through their performance as well as bring out their features. Taylor Hicks and his famous head of Salt n’ Pepper hair was maintained with the magical ingredients of various Joico products including their Silk Results shampoo and conditioner as well as their magical finishing products.

Taylor Hicks showed America his pride and love for music as well as his great enthusiasm and ability to entertain. But, what is the deal with Taylor’s purple suede jacket? Was this a uniquely fashionable item in Taylor’s wardrobe before he came to American Idol or was this a regal gift bestowed upon him? Either way, the jacket represents his victory, his winning trophy. Not everyone can pull off such a risky piece, which shows that Taylor answered the question ‘do the clothes make the man, or does the man make the clothes’.
